About the NSW Water Ski Federation

The NSW Water Ski Federation is the peak body for water skiing in NSW. It  represents the interests of NSW Water Skiers, and organises water ski competition through the active divisions of the Federation: Wakeboard, Tournament, Barefoot and Disabled.

The Federation is affiliated with the Waterski and Wakeboard Australia and the International Water Ski Federation.

Some of the objectives of the NSW Water Ski Federation are:

  • Promotion of the sport of Water Skiing in NSW and throughout Australia.
  • Help to develop a high standard of Water Skiing, through training days, come and try days and development of Water Ski coaches.
  • Enable members to compete in Water Ski competitions, and to represent NSW in national competition and to represent Australia in World Titles.
  • Facilitate government, commercial and public recognition of Water Skiing, by providing a point of contact to represent the interests of Water Skiers in NSW

In conjunction with the Australian Water Ski Federation, the Wakeboard, Tournament, Barefoot and Disabled Divisions operate regular competition in their respective discipline. These days are a lot of fun for anyone that wants to become more serious about their sport. Each Division also operates training and “come and try days”, where you can learn some of the skills, or get more information about becoming involved. For more information, just follow the link on the Links page to the Division.

The NSW Water Ski Federation also organises the annual Bridge to Bridge Ski Race, one of the longest running, and most prestigious ski racing events in the Southern Hemisphere. This race is conducted each November, and runs for some 112km on the Hawkesbury River, from mouth of the River to Windsor in Western Sydney.

The Federation also owns the NSW Ski Gardens, a Holiday Park situated on the Hawkesbury River at Wisemans Ferry. The NSW Ski Gardens offers a location for Water Skiers to launch their boat, use the river frontage to ski from and relax in the picnic and camping grounds.

Water Ski Coaches can receive training and Australian Sports Commission coach accreditation, through the courses conducted by the NSW Water Ski Federation. These courses cover general coaching principles and all aspects of Water Skiing. More information can be requested from our Feedback page.
